My work brings those elements together. I shape scientific and global strategy and build communities around important questions in the microbial sciences. As an author and columnist, I explain new research for readers outside specialist fields. As a speaker, I explore what science means for medicine, technology, institutions, and public life.

I write Scientifically Speaking, a regular column for Hindustan Times, on subjects ranging from microbes and medicine to artificial intelligence, climate, and the culture of science.
Books and public communication
I am the author of two books for general readers on COVID-19 and on antimicrobial resistance. I also discuss science through talks, television, podcasts, and public events.
